State House Honorees 2017

Governor Charlie Baker honored Massachusetts State Police Troopers Merrick and Cain, along with our Somerville Police detectives Kilsarys Leguisamon and Derrick Dottin yesterday.  After an around-the-clock manhunt for fugitive James Morales in January, the escapee was finally captured in the Somerville/Cambridge area. Both Somerville Detectives were on their way to a funeral when they saw James Morales walk by their car. Both detectives quickly called into dispatch to check the descriptions for the fugitive Morales. State Trooper Merrick who had been in his cruiser also spotted Morales, jumped out of his cruiser and proceed on foot in pursuit of the fugitive. On Monday, Governor C. Baker publicly recognized these officers bravery and honored them for their work in apprehending the fugitive.  Congratulations!
