WANTED - Wallace Street Assault

wallace suspect1On Saturday morning, September 10th, at about 12:45 a.m., a 25 year old woman was indecently assaulted as she walked on Wallace Street. The victim was grabbed from behind and assaulted before she screamed, apparently scaring off the suspect. The suspect then fled down Wallace Street toward Holland Street.

The victim described the suspect as a dark skinned white male, possibly in his twenties/thirties, 5-04 to 5-07, clean shaven, had a slight unknown accent although he spoke perfect English, had thick eye brows, dark colored eyes, and no visible scars, marks or tattoos. The suspect was wearing blue jeans, a very dark hoodie shirt that had some type of design on the chest, and the hoodie was up so she couldn’t see the color or length of the suspect’s hair. An artist’s sketch of the suspect is depicted above.

Anyone with information about this incident or who may know the identity of this suspect is urged to contact Somerville Police at 617 625-1212. Det. Sgt. Richard Lavey is the primary investigator for this case.

Robbery Suspect Arrested After Barricading Himself inside Home

9811 frontAt about 7:40 p.m., a Somerville Police Officer attempted to place a subject under arrest for an outstanding unarmed robbery warrant out of Malden District Court. The suspect, who is tentatively identified as Demetrius Tragiou, age 30, got into a physical struggle with the officer and fled into the residence at 56 Broadway, where he barricaded himself inside. The suspect, who was known to the officer to have a violent history, told officers that he had hostages inside and he would harm them if they tried to enter. Police officers then secured the residence and called in a SWAT Team and Negotiators from the Northeastern Massachusetts Law Enforcement Council (NEMLEC).

The Negotiators were able to obtain the release of two adult females who had been inside the apartment. Upon learning that the suspect intended to harm himself, the SWAT Team forced entry where they found the suspect suffering from multiple self inflicted cutting wounds, believed to be non-life threatening. The suspect was transported to an area hospital where he will remain in custody until he is able to be released. He will be facing multiple charges in addition to the arrest warrant.

The incident remains under investigation by Somerville Police. No suspect photo will be released until the suspect is booked and his identity is confirmed.
