  • Woman Charged in Connection with Assaulting Mother Who was Found Dead inside Somerville Apartment

    SOMERVILLE – Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan and Somerville Chief of Police Charles Femino have confirmed that April Monroe, 48 of Somerville has been charged with strangulation and assault and battery causing serious bodily injury on a person on a person over 60 in connection with an alleged assault on her mother, Gail Gasperini, 73 of East Boston, who was found dead inside the defendant’s Summer Street apartment on May 28, 2023.

    23028731: On 5/24/23 at approximately 7:15 PM, Somerville Housing Police responded to 530 Mystic Ave for report of a past robbery. Upon arrival, officers spoke with a juvenile male who stated while in the area of the parking lot, he was approached by a group of males wearing masks. One of the males then punched him in the face and took several of his belongings.

    23021564: On 4/21/23 at approximately 2:16 PM, Somerville Police responded to 1374 Broadway for report of three kids picking on an older man. Upon arrival, officers found a group of juveniles yelling profanities with their fists clenched surrounding a group of three adult males. Officers spoke with the juveniles who stated two older males got into an altercation with them and they all began fighting.
