SOMERVILLE - FIRST RESPONDER FRIDAYS

On a cold evening in January, officers were called to a house that had experienced damage to the heating and water systems the previous day. The house was deemed uninhabitable and the family was able to secure a hotel room for that evening. However, the family shared their concerns with the officers that they would not be able to afford another night and had no place to stay.

Officer Thomas Lambert with the help of Officer Ribeiro and Sgt. Marino made various attempts to assist the family in finding shelter. When not successful in this effort, Officer Lambert, unselfishly and without seeking recognition, took it upon himself to personally pay for a room for the family. This is one example of how Somerville Police Officers show outstanding levels of selflessness, care and commitment towards our community. We understand and embrace the idea that our responsibility to our residents go far beyond enforcing the laws of the Commonwealth. Officer Lambert’s story is just one of many we hope to see highlighted on Fox 25 on September 6th. The community is fortunate to have such brave, caring and compassionate officers serving Somerville.
