Somerville Resident Awareness Bulletin- Tire & Rim Thefts

Recently, Ward 5 has seen a rash of motor vehicle tire and rim thefts. The suspects are believed to be operating a dark gray 2014 Acura TL with no front plate. Residents are asked to call 911 should they see a vehicle matching this description or any suspicious parties between the hours of 1:00 AM and 4:30 AM. Please read the list to understand what behavior could indicate a theft in progress .

• Thefts occur on small side streets between 1:00 AM and 4:30 AM.
• Two male suspects park a 2014 Acura TL on a nearby street and walk the area between the target vehicle and their own for approx 20 minutes.
• The tires and rims are eventually removed and then stashed halfway between the cars.
• The suspects return to their Acura, drive the area and finally return to retrieve the stolen tires and rims.
