On 2/11/22, Jaiir Coleman pleaded guilty for his role in the multiple shootings in Somerville, Chelsea and Cambridge. He received a minimum sentence of 40 years. We are proud of the work done by Somerville Detectives on this case and the collaboration of the agencies involved in this federal prosecution.
 
"Coleman admitted to committing six shootings in furtherance of this drug conspiracy. Four shootings took place on Nov. 11, 2019, in Chelsea and Somerville, during which homes and vehicles were struck with gunfire. A fifth shooting took place in May 2020 in Somerville targeting individuals who were believed to be rival gang members. Armed Robbery

22005269: On 2/2/22 at approximately 3:07 PM, Somerville Police responded to a business in Assembly Row for a robbery. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the reporting person who stated a black man, 6 feet tall, wearing a red, white, and blue winter hat, blue Adidas hooded sweatshirt, and light blue jeans entered the store and began to shoplift various items. When he approached the exit, he brandished a knife at the security guard. Anyone with information regarding this individual is asked to please contact the Somerville Police at 617-625-1600.

Assault

22005746: On 2/5/22 at approximately 1:50 PM, Somerville Police responded to a business in the area of Mystic Ave & Revolution Dr for report of a past assault. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated while he was in the parking lot, he engaged in an argument with a man operating a pickup truck who then exited the vehicle and attacked him. Officers identified the suspect.

Residential Breaking and Entering

22005148: On 2/1/22 at approximately 9:05 PM, Somerville Police responded to a multifamily residence on Rossmore St for a past breaking and entering. Upon arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated his air compressor was missing from his garage.
